Delphine Pontvieux was invited for a luncheon by the ladies of the Deerfield book club this past Thursday (September 30th) to discuss her novel “ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest.”
The conversation covered many topics related to her book, and the separatist group ETA in particular, as it’s been making headlines in the US and international press over the past month when the group announced a permanent cease-fire to the Spanish government (see Basque country news category on this blog to read more on the issue). Other subjects were discussed as well, such as Basque cuisine and wine, tourism in the Basque country and the Pyrenees, and of course, the book characters’ personalities and their actions were discussed at length.
A note from the host of the Deerfield book club:
“thank you again for coming to our book club and entertaining us with your rich history of the Basque area and all the research you did for ETA.  An amazing first novel and I am sure there are more to come.  You are an amazing talent in so many areas. My friends were also enamored with you.”
Are you part of a book club? Or do you feel like gathering together with your friends some day and do something different for a change of pace?
We encourage you to choose/propose “ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest” as your next pick.  And should you want to discuss the novel with the author herself, please contact us at to make proper arrangements.
